Why the Show Kept Coming Back
Three houses and twenty-two minutes. The island takes longer than that, and it is better for it.
Turquoise water, a reef a few fins from shore, direct flights from Houston, Atlanta and Miami year-round, seasonally from Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis, Montreal and Toronto, and a community of North Americans who came for a week and stayed. What the cameras skip is the title search, the closing and the first year on island time. That is where Roatan Life Real Estate has worked since 2001, before the island kept an MLS. Our blog covers that part week by week.

Questions People Ask
About the Roatan Caribbean Life episodes.
How many Roatan Caribbean Life episodes are there?
Twenty-nine, from “Following Our Hearts to Honduras” in January 2015 to “Trading Moguls for Water Skis” in September 2020, across six seasons of the show. The index above lists every one by year, with HGTV’s episode page where one exists.
Is Caribbean Life still on HGTV?
The show stopped making new episodes in 2020. The Roatan episodes still air in reruns on HGTV and stream on HGTV GO, Max and Discovery+, and HGTV keeps an episode page for many of them.
Where in Roatan was Caribbean Life filmed?
Across the island, most often the beach communities of the west side, West End and West Bay among them, plus Sandy Bay and the quieter east. Our Roatan Buyer’s Guide walks through each area, and the photo gallery shows them.
Were the buyers on the show working with Roatan Life Real Estate?
HGTV casts the buyers and pairs them with an agent for each episode. Our agents have appeared on multiple shows over the years, and we make no claim about any one episode. What we can tell you is what happens after the reveal, because it is what we have done on Roatan since 2001: the title search, the closing and the move.
Can a foreigner buy property in Roatan like the couples on the show?
Yes. Honduras has had a working foreign ownership framework for more than thirty years. Individuals can hold a residential property in their own name, and larger parcels are held through a Honduran corporation the buyer controls. The Roatan Buyer’s & Relocation Guide walks through both paths, and the Roatan MLS shows what is for sale today.
