How to get to Roatan
Roatan’s modern airport, the Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport, also known as Roatan International Airport (RTB airport code), is one of Honduras’ four international airports and is serviced by American, United, Avianca, Delta, Air Transat, Sunwing, Tropic Air and more which all fly to Roatan in conjunction with local carriers (CM Airlines, Aerolinas SOSA etc).
Several direct flights are also available from the United States (Schedules vary by season but can be as often as daily from the continental USA to a few times a week):
American Airlines, services Roatan from Miami and Dallas (DFW) multiple times per week.
United Airlines flies direct up to 9 times a week (depending on season) to and from Roatan.
Avianca, flies direct daily to and from Roatan/San Salvador.
Delta, on Saturday is flying direct to and from Roatan/Atlanta.
Direct flight from Canada to Roatan on Charters Sunwing and Air Transat nearly year round typically on Mondays and Thusdays.
Tropic Air connects from Belize City daily.
Connecting flights to Roatan from mainland Honduras can be found online with CM Airlines or Aerolinas SOSA with many options daily from San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa, and La Ceiba.
Your best bet is to try and catch one of the direct flights to Roatan. If you are unable to do so, you can always take a flight into Tegucigalpa or San Pedro Sula, and get a connecting flight to Roatan.
Ferry Service between La Ceiba and Roatan via the Galaxy Wave is a twice daily occurrence and quite convenient for those exploring the North Coast of Honduras before or after their trip to the Bay Islands.
